Man arrested for shooting neighbor's dog

A 65-year-old Forsyth Township man was arrested on Tuesday for shooting a neighbor's dog that had entered his yard. The dog was not killed in the shooting.

Police responded to a call at 7 p.m. on Saturday regarding a dog being shot several times on Johnson Lake Road.

According to Forsyth Township Police Chief Tim Rector, Michael Baumann was taken into custody and charged with two counts--count one of torturing or killing an animal and count two, reckless use of a firearm. Both charges are felonies.

Baumann was freed on a $1,500 bond and is scheduled to be arraigned in Marquette County District Court on Monday, July 29.
