Man enters Florence County home with rifle in hand

Police discovered a meth and marijuana operation after a man entered an Aurora Township residence with a gun on Friday.

According to the Florence County Sheriff's Department, a man allegedly entered the home at around 7:30 p.m. with a rifle and ordered a tenant around the house. Officers were able to make contact with the man holding the rifle, who then allowed four people to leave the residence. The man later surrendered to officials.

While clearing the scene police came across a strong chemical smell, according to the sheriff's department. Officers discovered chemicals that could be used in the production of methamphetamine or marijuana growing and contacted the Florence County Hazmat Team.

A warranted search of the residence discovered several items related to the manufacture and sale of marijuana.

The sheriff's department then arrested two men and two women on weapons and drug charges. They were taken to the Florence County Jail where they are awaiting formal charges.
