A 22-year-old Iron River man was taken into custody after fleeing from police while receiving medical treatment on Tuesday.
According to the Iron County Sheriff's Department, the man was taken from the Iron County Jail to North Star Hospital to be treated for a medical condition when he fled on foot. He ran to Ice Lake and attempted to swim away. The suspect made it back to shore then ran off.
Police searched for an hour before locating the man who was hiding in tall brush a short distance from where he was last seen. The man was then taken into custody without incident.
His name isn't being released, pending arraignment on charges of escaping lawful custody.
