The man accused of tagging various areas across Marquette County with the word GERKO was sentenced to one year probation by the Marquette County District Court on Monday.
Twenty-five-year-old Alexander Watanen was ordered to clean up all of the graffiti he placed around the area.
The judge also ordered Watanen to pay for and place an ad in the newspaper to apologize for his actions.
The ad will also ask any business owners who have the word GERKO written on their property to contact the probation department. Watanen will be required to clean up the places he tagged.
The 25-year-old Marquette man was arrested on July 22 after a witness reported him tagging a dumpster with the name GERKO.
