      Man sentenced for killing ex-girlfriend

Citgo Gas Station where Ann Schueller was shot and killed

The 55-year-old man that shot and killed his ex-girlfriend in August of 2012 was sentenced to life in prison on Thursday.

Richard Heyer received life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend, 51-year-old Ann Schueller, in a Citgo gas station in Wausaukee, Wisconsin. Schueller was shot and killed shortly before 3 p.m. at the gas station where she worked.

Heyer was taken into custody shortly after the shooting. Police say that he had suffered from a self-inflicted gun shot wound to the chest.

The defense attorney requested that Heyer be eligible for parole after 20 years, but the judge denied the request.
