Man walks across Michigan on stilts

Neil Sauter walks across Michigan on stilts to raise money for Cerebral Palsy

One man is walking across the State of Michigan on stilts.

His name is Neil Sauter and he is known as the Michigan Stilt Walker. Sauter has cerebral palsy and is walking to raise money for United Cerebral Palsy of Michigan. He walks across a different part of Michigan every weekend, totaling about 400 miles.

On Friday he walked from Marquette to Ishpeming. On Saturday he will walk to Escanaba, and then Manistique on Sunday. Sauter has already raised about $10,000.

"It's really incredible to just have the support I receive on the road," said Sauter. "I really enjoy it, so I hope to make it an annual event so long as people donate."

The Michigan Stilt Walker will be back downstate next weekend ending his trip. To learn how you can donate, Sauter's website here.
