A Skandia man is under evalutation after a tense situation early Monday morning. The Michigan State Police were called out to Yalmer Road in Skandia Township at 3:40 a.m. Monday. They were responding to a report of a man with a shotgun, at large, behind a home. The caller thought the man may have shot himself.
When troopers arrived, they tracked the individual through the snow to an unoccupied home. They found him, alive and armed, inside. After a short time, troopers were able to talk the man out of the building without further incident.
A follow-up investigation into the 36-year-old subject uncovered several outstanding warrants for his arrest. Several felony charges will be sought against the man. At this time he is at Marquette General Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation. Pending medical clearance, he will be taken to the Marquette County Jail to be charged. His name will not be released until he has been arraigned.
