      Manistique man arrested in series of auto thefts

      Manistique Public Safety Officers have arrested a Manistique man in connection to three cases of motor vehicle theft and malicious destruction of property.

      Officials have arrested 26-year-old Jacob Wesley Gage of Manistique for several incidents that occurred in the early morning hours of April 20. Vehicles were taken from driveways on North Houghton Avenue and Intake Park Road. In addition, there was an attempt made to steal two vehicles from a driveway on Delta Avenue. The stolen vehicles were used to destroy several of the tree beds at the State of Michigan's Wyman Nursery located off of Intake Park Road.

      At his Gage's arraignment Thursday morning, Schoolcraft County Prosecutor Tim Noble formally charged Gage with two counts of unlawful driving away an automobile, one attempted count of unlawful driving away an automobile, one count of malicious destruction of personal property over $20,000 and one count of larceny from a motor vehicle.
