Marquette Board of Light & Power customers target of phone scam

The Marquette Board of Light and Power was recently notified of a phone scam claiming to disconnect service if customers don't provide credit card information for payment.

MBLP states that these phone calls were not from their office located in Marquette. They say that if a MBLP representative was to contact you, it would be from a local, Marquette phone number.

If you receive a phone call threatening to disconnect service, they recommend you do not provide financial information and call the MBLP at 228-0311 during regular business hours, or after hours seven days a week at 228-0300.

MBLP utility staff has notified the Marquette Police Department of the scam incidents.
