The 21st Marquette County Fair is getting set to open. The fair will start Thursday at 12 p.m.. Carnival rides, mud drag races and many other attractions will be a part of the annual event.
The fair runs Thursday through August 12. The cost is $5 for adults and free for children four and under. Four day passes are also available; they are $15. With the cost of admission, you also get to see the return of motocross.
After being absent from the Marquette County Fair for more than 30 years, a group of enthusiasts have worked together to bring motocross back. Wednesday evening, crews were putting the finishing touches on the track. More than 80 riders from Michigan and Wisconsin are expected to race.
"We just basically put all our heads together, all our hard work, and just kind of came out there and decided if the fair was willing to have us out here to put on an event like this, then certainly we'll make it happen," said Jesse Zambon, rider and organizer. "So we're hoping to have a good show for the community."
The races begin at 7 p.m. Thursday night. If you buy a pass to the Marquette County Fair for $5, you can watch the motocross races for free.
