Wednesday night the United Way of Marquette County celebrated exceeding their goal for this year's campaign. They managed to raise more than $432,000 going above the goal of $425,000. They use money donated during the campaign to give back to organizations throughout Marquette County.
Last year they helped more than 9,000 clients in Marquette County. Wednesday's party was a way to say thank you to those who donated and helped with the campaign.
"There's so much need out there, and it really feels good to be able to give money in your community and know that it's going to stay in the community and help friends and neighbors. I just can't thank people enough for their generous support," said United Way Co-Chair Christine Pesola.
During the celebration, they also announced the co-chairs for next year's campaign. Christine Pesola and Dr. Jim Surrell will be speaking to businesses to raise funds. Next year's campaign will also mark their 70th year of helping those in need in Marquette County.
