Marquette has been named a finalist for the 2014 All-America City Award.
The honor is awarded through the National Civic League. This year's awards are intended to highlight healthy communities, and Marquette is the only city in Michigan on the list of 25 finalists.
"Though the City of Marquette has been named as a finalist, this process has very much been a team effort," said Marquette Mayor Robert Niemi. This successful nomination is the culmination of a lot of hard work by a very dedicated community. We're honored to be a finalist, and deeply believe Marquette is a great All-America City."
A local delegation from Marquette will be going to Denver, Colorado in June to see if the city is one of the 10 award winners.
