Amateur golfers tested their skills at the annual Marquette Rotary golf outing Thursday afternoon.
Golfers teed off on the Heritage Course at the Marquette Golf and Country Club. The event raises money for the YMCA of Marquette County as well as other local charities.
Thirty teams of five made up of business and community members participated today. In addition to the golf there was also a silent auction and live auction featuring items donated by local businesses.
"Rotary is service above self and I think that this event is really special because all of our Rotarians, we have 100 members in our club, they get out and everybody does something, whether they sponsor a hole, play in the tournament, solicit a gift, come out and volunteer during the day, every one of our members is involved," says Michelle Butler from Marquette Rotary.
This was the twenty-first year for the Rotary golf tournament.
Last year the tournament raised about $40,000, and organizers are hoping to top that amount this year.
