The Marquette Area Public School's Board of Education held a special reorganization meeting Monday.
The meeting was designed to streamline the process of the meetings and eliminate redundancies within the system. Many on the board felt that the meetings went on too long and contained information and issues that were largely from previous meetings.
"What we decided would be a good thing to do is to have two full board meetings held twice a month so we can do discussion and make decisions all at once without rehashing and hashing and recording," said MAPS Board Member, Laura Songer.
In addition to making the system more efficient, the issue of transparency also took center stage, with the board working to keep the community involved and informed. A schedule of the board's meetings can be found on the maps website.
