A sport that is usually played on ice is being taken underwater this summer in Marquette.
Underwater Hockey classes and games will be offered at the Marquette Senior High School pool starting Wednesday, June 11 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Three introductory classes will take place in June, and July will offer four dates for games and a more competitive environment.
Officials say they are trying to bring more unique events to keep the pool busy.
"The more we use the pool and people realize we have this nice facility I think the more opportunity we'll have to keep it busy," says athletics coordinator Jamie Tuma. "Also people being comfortable in the water in a safe way is important in the Marquette community."
The class will cost $30 while the competition will cost $50.
