The 56th annual Kiwanis Chicken Cookout is getting set for this Sunday, and the event is the club's primary fundraiser for the year, with the money going to a number of local organizations.
The cooks will prepare more than 3,000 half chickens. Nine dollars will get you chicken, a baked potato, beverage and even dessert.
To the members of the Kiwanis Club, it's all about giving back.
"We want to see our community continue to grow and have the youth and others in the community have opportunities," said Marquette Kiwanis Club President Mike Morgan. "We have the opportunity to give back and in our time to make it a better place for all of us to live."
Food will be served Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. For those who pre-order their tickets, a drive-thru is also available, which you can access from the drive-thru off Pine Street.
