Due to the harsh winter the Michigan Department of Transportation is asking for more help.
MDOT is asking for several more Adopt-A-Highway volunteers this spring. The department needs more volunteers to help keep the roads clean. Excessive maintenance during the winter has cut severely into their budget.
With snow still on the ground, MDOT says they could already delay their pickup dates.
"We realize that we want them to conduct their pickup in a safe manner, and with the amount of snowfall on the ground if they can't conduct their pickup in our scheduled pickup time we are willing to extend it yet another week beyond May 4," said Marion Johnson of MDOT.
The first pick up starts on April 26 and goes through May 4. If you would like to volunteer you can contact your local MDOT office.
