The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and the White House Council on Environmental Quality are hosting a public meeting in Bloomington to discuss options for preventing the spread of Asian carp and other invasive species between the Great Lakes and Mississippi River basins.
The meeting will allow for public comment on a study submitted to Congress Jan. 6. The options concentrate on the Chicago Area Waterway System, the primary connection between the Mississippi River Basin and Lake Michigan.
The meeting will run from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at the Minnesota Valley Refuge Visitor Center. A presentation begins at 4 p.m. followed by a comment period. The Corps is taking written comments until March 3.
This is one of several similar meetings being held across the region.
