Several public meetings are scheduled Wednesday afternoon in Humboldt Township.
The focus is the mining permit application from Kennecott.
The company wants to reuse the existing Humboldt Mill facilities to process ore from the proposed Eagle Mine.
While plans for the mine in northern Marquette County are on hold, the company is still working on plans for its possible approval and development.
The meetings are being held at the Humboldt Township Hall. An afternoon session will run from 1 to 4:45 p.m. The evening session is from 6 to 9:30 p.m.
The first hour of each meeting will give people the chance to have an informal question and answer time with staff of the DEQ Mining Team. The remainder is for formal public comments on the DEQ application.
