The Delta County Sheriffs Department was involved in a standoff with a man holding somebody hostage on Tuesday evening.
According to police, a 62-year-old man identified as John Sarasin was reportedly holding his 64-year-old wife hostage at gunpoint around 5:40 p.m. in Flat Rock.
The sheriffs department set up a perimeter and contacted the Michigan State Police ES team and hostage negotiator. At around 8:30 p.m., the police were able to safely get the hostage out of the house.
The hostage negotiator was also able to safely get Sarasin out of the house at 2:30 a.m., according to the sheriffs department.
Sarasin was taken into custody and was arraigned in court on Wednesday morning on charges of unlawful imprisonment and assault with a dangerous weapon. Another person, 64-year-old man Daryl Sarasin, was arrested during the standoff with police for obstructing.
