Sun, 30 Jun 2013 04:56:27 GMT — Michigamme kicked off a week full of events for the Fourth of July Saturday. The Fourth of July Committee and the newly formed Michigamme Downtown Development Authority organized the traditional pancake breakfast and rummage sale. New this year is the Market Day. Vendors lined the streets selling homemade crafts. The Market Day will take place on the last Saturday of every month for the summer. Any vendor is welcome to join in for free. "We're hoping that it does bring more people to downtown Michigamme, and it gives the people around here the opportunity to sell their crafts that they sell or have a little rummage sale," said Colleen Maki of the Michigamme Township 4th of July Committee. Money raised from the event goes towards Wednesday evening's fireworks display, which takes place at dusk.
