Michigan Tech is again being praised by the 2014 US News and World Report as one of the best colleges in the nation as well as being a Military Friendly School. The school was named 57th in the nation for public schools.
The title of military-friendly school comes from Congress and refers to veteran recruitment. Only 20 percent of schools in the nation receive the military-friendly title.
Though the ROTC program at Tech does not currently have any veteran students, the cadets feel the school earns the military-friendly title in other ways as well.
??I think the university is great for our department,?? said Army ROTC Cadet Staff Officer Alex Alsobrooks. ??They help us out with things like giving us the football field at our 6 a.m. workouts. They help us with scholarships for room and board. They provide us with other things, such as let us miss a class or leave class early. They're very understanding about it.??
The cadets say they feel the ROTC presence on campus and in the community is also well received by the university.
