Over 40 Mini Coopers raced through downtown Houghton and Hancock Friday morning on their way to Copper Harbor for the Keweenaw Mini Rendezvous.
Drivers from across the country got into town Thursday and will be driving around the Keweenaw enjoying the area's sights for the weekend. In their parade Friday morning, the rally organizers teamed up with local radio station Mix 93 WKMJ for drivers to sync their radios to on their drive. They spent the day sight-seeing in Copper Harbor and return to Houghton in the evening.
"I love my Mini Cooper, and I love Mini events," says Lori Landwehr of Marengo, Illinois. "We go all over the country with it. We've met awesome people. We've had great times, and you just can't beat driving a Mini."
The drivers say there's a special bond Mini Cooper owners have that makes "Mini" events so popular around the country.
