Lights Out Fights of Dickinson County is hosting MMA (Mixed Martial Arts) fighting at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds on Saturday, August 24. Gates open at 2 p.m. The fights begin at 7 p.m.
Weigh-ins will take place at the Delft Theatre on Ludington Street on Friday night, August 23 at 7 p.m. The fighters will then duke it out in the cage at the Ruth Butler Building on the fairgrounds on Saturday, August 24.
"They're going to be coming in and competing inside the cage that's inside. We got alot of really good teams that have fought for me in the past. We have a title fighter coming down from Houghton to defend his 145 pound title. We have a fighter coming up from downstate. His father is battling prostrate cancer. So, we're going to donate some of the proceeds to him, as well," said Chris Skoglund, pro fighter, trainer and promoter for Lights out Fights of Dickinson County.
Tickets can be purchased during weigh-ins tonight at the Delft Theatre, 907 Ludington Street in Escanaba. Weigh-ins are free and open to the public.
Tickets will also be on sale Saturday, August 24 at the Ruth Butler Building on the U.P. State Fairgrounds. Doors open at 2 p.m. There will be live entertainment and refreshments. Fights begin at 7 p.m. Ticket prices are: General Admission: $30, Front Row: $45, and VIP seating: $55.
Skoglund says it's a good time to catch some of these fighters in action at a good price, before they turn professional.
