Motorcyclists get ready to Roar the Shore for a good cause

Bikers in the Upper Peninsula are gathering in Marquette County for a good cause this weekend.

The second annual Roar the Shore event is revving up to raise money for the Beacon House. This year includes breakfast for the riders at L'Attitude Cafe` & Bistro in Marquette, followed by a parade down Washington Street.

Riders continue down the shore lines of the Upper Peninsula and finish at The Up North Lodge in Forsyth Township. Organizers say they've added some things to make this year bigger and better than last year.

"If you're a motorcycle rider, it's just a few hours out of your day for a really incredible cause, and we guarantee that we're going to show you a really great time," said Mary Tavernini Dowling, CEO of U.P. Hospitality House. "If you can't participate at all, the one thing that we'd love for you to do is come downtown to Washington Street and just cheer on our riders in the bike parade. That would be just wonderful if we had a big crowd there!"

The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Saturday in Marquette. The cost to participate in Roar the Shore is $35 for each rider, $60 for a couple. For more information check out the Beacon House website and click Roar to Shore.
