      Motorcyclists roar the shore

Dozens of motorcyclists hit the road to help the Beacon House in Marquette on Saturday.

The 2nd annual Roar The Shore raised thousands of dollars to support the Beacon House. More than 50 motorcyclists met in Marquette, then took a long scenic route to the Up North Lodge in Gwinn where they received a free dinner. The Beacon House provides free hospitality to people visiting loved ones at nearby hospitals, and is entirely dependent on donations.

"When a new group comes out like this group and shows us their love with their money and their registration fees, and then a little later on with our silent auction, it's going to be a great day for the Beacon House and we just feel very blessed today," said Mary Tavernini-Dowling, the new Beacon House CEO.

The goal was to raise $5,000 for the Beacon House.
