Munising City Manager steps down, city gets gift

At the Munising City Commission meeting Wednesday the City Manager announced he's retiring. Three year member of the commission Tom Dolaskie also sat in on his last meeting. Dolaskie received a ceremonial key to the city and then donated his 2013 commissioner salary towards Alger County's Community and Recreation Center.

"The goals that they have for that community center mean a lot to me, the last memory I have of a community center in Munising are when I was six years old doing Tae Kwon Do and I don't remember us having one since and that's a big bummer and it's also a shining light to see it come back on the horizon here in the community," said Dolaskie.

City Manager Doug Bovin has served for 10 years in Munising. The commission heard from the Michigan Municipal League about how they would handle the search for a new City Manager. They hope to fill that vacancy in October of this year.
