If you're looking for some entertainment over the next couple of weekends, you may want to check out the Dickinson County community theater's latest show at the historic Braumart Theater.
Murder may not sound like a laughing matter, but the characters in "Murder at the Howard Johnson's" prove otherwise. The story revolves around a woman who is plotting to kill her husband with the help of her dentist in a seedy hotel room at the local Howard Johnson.
"It's an interesting story about how the three people relate in their quirky, offbeat way," said Carla Anderson, the show's leading lady.
None of the characters, however, prove to be very good at murder, which paves the way for plenty of humor along with some suspense.
"It's funny, it's lighthearted, there's a lot of action in it and we really thought that people would enjoy it," said director Patricia Staller.
The plot twists and turns as different members of the three-person cast alternately get targeted to be the victim.
So do any of the would-be murderers manage to accomplish their goal? If so, who becomes the unlucky victim? To find those answers, you'll have to head to the show.
"Murder at the Howard Johnson's" runs this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Braumart Theater, next Saturday at 7 p.m. and next Sunday at 2 p.m. Tickets are $8 in advance and $10 at the door.
