      Nahma plans Labor Day festivities

The town of Nahma in Delta County is gearing up for its Labor Day celebration which takes place on Sunday, September 1.

Many events and activities are planned, including a parade, an Antique Car Show and a birthday celebration for a 100-year-old train. Lineup for the parade begins at 10:30 a.m. and the parade procession will start on the east end of Nahma on County Road 495. At noon, as many as thirty food and craft vendors will open for sales. Funds generated from the festivities will benefit the Nahma Township Park, township recreation and Nahma Historical Preservation efforts.

"We have a log sawing contest. We try to stay with the old fashioned types of things. We have a pie eating contest, childrens' games. We have a beer tent and raffles all day long," said Cindy Bradshaw, chairperson of the Labor Day Committee. Childrens' games include water balloon throwing contests and sack races.

Entrance is free. The day's events will take place until 8 p.m.
