Cabela's National Walleye Tour has made it's third stop in Escanaba Friday.
This is the last tournament before the National Walleye Championship in Oshkosh, Wisconsin. One hundred pro anglers and fishermen sailed out at 7 a.m. to start the day. The fishermen were required to be back and docked at Escanaba Marina at Ludington Park by 3 p.m. Despite concerns about high winds, visitors were excited to fish Lake Michigan.
"Well, we're looking forward to a great tournament here on the bay due to the fact that there's so many big fish inside the system," says stage host Chip Leer. "It usually takes a big weight to take home our biggest prize and that's what this is all about. It's getting out there and being able to separate the big fish from the bigger fish."
There is $300,000 in cash and prizes up for grabs.
