A new farmers market is open in the Copper Country. This one will be strictly a produce and food market, and it will be open until the end of October.
The Osma Acres Farm in Houghton will be open Monday, Tuesday, and Friday from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. So far, there are two farms participating, but they are inviting more to join in.
The new market will accept Bridge cards and WIC cards as well as Senior Market Fresh certificates.
The market is a same-day pick garden, has an online ordering option, and has a variety of vegetables and herbs to sell so far.
??There are lots of community gardens going in and families starting gardens with their children. Everybody wants fresh produce and especially up here when it's hard to get and the growing season is so short,?? said co-manager of Osma Acres Farm Judy Lell. ??So, it's nice to have several people who are growing.??
Osma Acres Farm is located off Canal Road in Houghton just past Oskar. If you are interested in having a table to sell produce at the market, contact Judy and Billy Lell at 906-281-4949. You can find more information about the farmers market at their website here.
