Itâ??s official: Florence will now be getting a new grocery store in their community.
The Haberkorn's store located on U.S. Highway 2 has been closed for seven years, but will soon re-open as Pat's Foods. This comes after a grant was awarded by the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation. The grant will allow the project developer to be reimbursed up to $250,000.
â??The store will be owned and operated by Ben and Joe Campioni out of the Upper Peninsula of Michigan,â?? said Wendy Gehlhoff, with Florence County Economic Development. â??They've got five stores, five grocery stores up there and they're a four-generation grocery store family with tons of experience and a lot of great new entrepreneurial ideas for our community as well.â??
The store will also include square footage of space for Ace Hardware products to be sold. The Subway restaurant attached to the building will continue to operate. The third week of June is the tentative opening time for the new store.
