New television technology at the VA Medical Center in Iron Mountain is allowing patients to do more than just watch television...it allows for some education. The center recently installed "E-videon" technology on their televisions which allows patients to view not only regular movies and televison, but educational medical videos. The television recognizes the patient, and medical videos and activities are suited personally to the patients' needs. Record documentation is also sent to medical staff automatically.
??We have over 650 videos for patient education on file,?? said Biomedical Engineer, Steve Treiber. ??These are also grouped into different groupings, so depending on what group is assigned, they can assign the patient education from there, so it's easier to find.??
Staff at the hospital consider the new technology to be a ??one-stop-shop?? for television, as it eliminates excess equipment and technology.
