The Houghton County Circuit Court is still waiting on the results of a competency hearing for a Keweenaw man accused of killing his wife.
Nima Nassiri was last in court in February facing charges of second degree murder in a domestic violence case in Dollar Bay.
The 34-year-old Nassiri had originally been facing charges of domestic assault in early December of last year, but when his wife, Senaz Nezami, died as a result of her injuries the charges were bumped up to second degree murder. This is a felony charge that carries a sentence of up to life in prison.
His wife, Sanaz Nezami, was from Iran originally and had planned to continue her studies at Michigan Tech.
Nassiri is currently in the Houghton County Jail being held on a five million dollar bond while awaiting the results of his competency hearing.
