One week after Earth Day, a group of NMU students kept the holiday spirit green and growing with an Earth Day Celebration on Saturday at Marquette's Moosewood Nature Center.
The group chose the nature center to host the celebration due to its atmosphere and relativity pristine location.
The celebration was an effort by the students to increase awareness about sustainability and conservation for a school project while drawing the community into the swing of things as well.
"This semester we were given an option to do an event or program, so we decided to take an Earth Day celebration. We worked on this all semester to make a big event out of this and to increase awareness so the whole larger scale community could try to get involved as well"
Activities during the event were diverse, ranging from watching live animals to planting seeds to face painting.
