NMU students set for dance performance

Northern Michigan University dance students are putting on a concert Saturday night at the Forest Roberts Theatre. Students and community members have choreographed their own routines for the performance. Dance styles for the concert will include Ballet, Jazz, Hip-Hop and more. Performers say this is their chance to show what they've learned during the school year.

"The faculty choreograph in the fall but the students are choreographing this show and so there's some solos, a lot of group pieces, dances from classical Ballet to Hip-Hop to Zumba to a poetry piece to commercial Jazz so basically anything you could possibly want to see dance wise," said Performer Alycia Heckathorn.

The show gets started at 7:30 p.m. at the theatre. Tickets are $3 for students $5 for the general public. As a special treat, the end of the show will feature a free style dance and audience participation is welcome so bring your dancing shoes.
