Northern Michigan University held its 10th annual Summer Job Fair Wednesday afternoon. About 70 employers were at the event, making it the largest one to date. The event included a wide range of employers such as law enforcement, retail jobs, and even volunteer opportunities.
While it does seem like summer is still a long way off, there is a reason behind the timing of the fair.
"We originally scheduled it for February because that's when employers told us they actually like to do the hiring for the summer," said Steven LaFond, Assistant Director of Career Services at NMU.
Most of the employers are from right here in the U.P.
The job fair is free and is a great way for students to network with possible employers.
