Marquette's North Star Academy is hosting its eighth annual Empty Bowls charity fundraiser on Friday.
Students of all grades at the school sculpted and fired their own unique bowl designs to give away at the fundraiser.
Event attendees will pay a minimum ten dollar donation for both lunch and the chance to take home a bowl of their choice. As is usual for the event, the students chose their own charities to donate the proceeds to, with one difference this year.
"It's not just a fundraiser, but it's educational awareness about hunger and poverty. So, we're focusing this year really for the first time just locally. The money's going to Voices for Youth and Marquette Ending Hunger," said event organizer Joy Bender-Hadley.
The event will be at the academy on Friday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
