North Star Academy in Marquette Township is expanding. The school is moving 120,000 yards of dirt from the hill behind its current facility so they can add a six classroom portable building.
The site preparation will cost around $400,000 and once in place, the building will be leased.
"By the end of July, we'll have all new utilities put in to expand to the new site as well as a new access road. It's a drive that will come in. Sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students will be there," said CEO and Superintendent Karen Anderson of North Star Academy.
The classrooms will be over 800 square feet, and it is expected to be completed by the first week of August.
