TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. (AP) - Aspiring moviemakers are getting an opportunity to produce and submit "bumper" films for possible showings in this year's 10th annual Traverse City Film Festival.
"Bumpers" last only 20 to 60 seconds. They're designed to play before feature presentations.
The festival founded by Oscar winner and Michigan native Michael Moore is sponsoring a bumper contest. Winners can receive cash prizes up to $1,000.
The best of the entries will be shown onscreen during the festival, scheduled for July 29-Aug. 3.
Festival organizers say the abbreviated pieces should be creative and fun and encourage participants to "let your imagination run wild," although humor and references should be accessible to diverse audiences.
