All children under 16 years old must have a valid safety certificate in order to operate an off road vehicle. The ORV Safety Academy and its volunteers help makes this possible and keep our trails and children safe.
Volunteers take part in the free, three day school, coordinated by the Michigan Department of Natural Resources. They are then certified and able to put on sponsored safety classes for kids to get their required certificate.
This is the first year the academy is coming to the Upper Peninsula.
"We worked three years to get this class in the Upper Peninsula," says ORV representative Tim Kobasic. "So, if you want to make a difference and you want to see this future stay and you want to see people stay happy and healthy and good representatives for the public, please get involved, get yourself signed up."
The free ORV Safety Academy takes place June 20, 21 and 22. Lodging and meals are provided.
