According to the Michigan State Police, the investigation into the officer-involved shooting of Timothy Mitchell from July 14 has been completed by the MSP Negaunee Post as of July 31.
A full report has been submitted to the Alger County Prosecutor's Office for review. No additional information will be released pending the review of the report by the prosecutor's office.
According to the prosecutor's office, Alger County Prosecutor Karen Bahrman has recused herself from the case. She has filed a petition for a special prosecutor with the Attorney General's Office in Lansing. This request could take a week to ten days to be processed.
The investigation by State Police was conducted at the request of the Munising Police Department.
