Officials investigate inmate assault involving sheriff's deputy

An investigation is underway in the George Young criminal sexual conduct case in Munising, but this investigation is targeted at an Alger County Sheriff's deputy, not at the suspect, George Young.

It's early in the investigation, but it involves a "deputy on inmate" assault. Young did not need medical attention as a result of the assault.

According to Alger County officials, the incident is being handled through internal affairs with police and will likely involve an out of county special prosecutor.

Young has been accused by a half dozen individuals of sexual assault. Recently, three more women have come forward accusing Young. Young is a Munising chiropractor. He stands charged with criminal sexual conduct, fourth degree.

The alleged victims stated that Young told them he had to do rib adjustments and would feel their breasts, both under and over clothing. Young's defense attorney argued his client was using legitimate chiropractic techniques.

Young is scheduled to be in Alger County Circuit Court on February 20 for a pretrial hearing.
