      One dead in moped crash

      A Calumet man died Friday afternoon in a moped accident, according to Michigan State Police at the Calumet Post.

      Martin Locatelli, 65, crashed the moped on M-26 near Junction Road in Osceola Township. He was traveling north on M-26 when he lost control of his moped in the roadway.

      Locatelli was taken to Aspirus Keweenaw Hospital by Mercy Ambulance. He was pronounced dead at the hospital.

      Locatelli was not wearing a helmet at the time of the accident. Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. No information was available as to what caused Locatelli to lose control of the moped.

      Michigan State Police Troopers were assisted at the scene by the Houghton County Sheriff's Department, Osceola Township First Responders, Tamarack City Fire Department and Mercy Ambulance.
