Ontonagon County landmark holds festival for non-profits

The Settler's Depot Gallery Co-Op in Ontonagon County celebrated 25 years of business Saturday by hosting its first festival for the area's non-profit organizations.

By giving the non-profits a chance to fundraise and possibly recruit members, event staff say they are trying to give back to their community.

"The members of the community are the ones who make us possible and so what we want to do is to celebrate the community. We've invited all of our non-profits in the area to come in. We had 18 groups and they're talking about how they help in the community." said Co-Op president Mary Shegan.

Live music all the way from Texas helped to draw in the crowds. Shegan estimated almost 400 people attended the event.
