Trout Unlimited and the Escanaba River Association teamed up to host a symposium on the brook trout in the Upper Peninsula on Friday.
A large crowd was on hand to listen to presenters who covered a range of topics regarding trout, including managing the natural habitat of trout and some of the threats that trout face in the U.P. Jerry Maynard from Trout Unlimited viewed the large turnout as a chance for people to network and plan for the future of trout.
"Thoughts and ideas about what we can do to improve the habitat, improve the population, so both concerns about the past and inspiration for the future going forward," Maynard said.
Following the presentations, a panel discussion was held, and audience members had a chance to voice their concerns and offer suggestions. The symposium was also followed by a social hour held at The Veirling restaurant in Marquette.
