Packers representative speaks at Marquette meeting

The Green Bay Packers are working to boost their attendance in coming seasons.

Aaron Popkey, Director of Public Affairs for the Packers, spoke Monday night at the monthly meeting of the Economic Club of Marquette County. Popkey has been with the Packers for 21 seasons.

He says the key to filling the stands at Lambeau Field is to utilize new technologies.

"We're doing that with better cellular coverage, we're exploring Wi-Fi, because fans want to be engaged in the game, they want to feel the experience in the stadium. But they want to be connected to their own online experience as well. If they're tweeting out a picture, posting to Facebook or keeping track of their fantasy team, those types of things" said Popkey.

Popkey also said its important to recognize the importance of fans in Upper Michigan. The Packers organization has nearly 2700 shareholders and more than 500 season ticket holders in the UP.
