Sun, 06 Oct 2013 20:23:51 GMT — A group of vendors partied with a purpose Saturday. Six vendors from the Marquette area are part of Party With a Purpose, a group dedicated to raising money for a different fundraiser every month. For October, they're each donating a portion of their proceeds to Miles for Makayla, which helps Makayla Mayo and her family in Gwinn pay their hospital bills. Makayla was hospitalized for months after suffering a ruptured brain aneurysm. "The Miles for Makayla, we were all very honored to do this for her. It's a wonderful family, and if we can help in any way, that's our goal," said Carla Perala of Park Lane Jewelry. They set up shop at the Bayou Restaurant in Harvey, which also offered some deals to help the cause. On November 7, they will be at the Upper Peninsula Medical Center in Marquette helping raise money for the uninsured and underinsured.
