The 11th Annual PastyFest is Saturday, June 28 at Agassiz Park in Calumet, and organizers are expecting to have thousands of pasties sold.
It all starts at 11 a.m. with a parade down 5th Street. There will be live music, 41 vendors with a variety of foods and crafts for sale, and the pasty bake-off begins at 1 p.m.
Kids?? games will take place in the afternoon with sack races and a rutabaga toss.
PastyFest organizers say it's a great way to enjoy the U.P.'s unique contribution to American cuisine.
??You don't find them anywhere else,?? said Calumet Village President Dave Geisler. ??You don't find them elsewhere in the Midwest. You don't find them on the east coast. You don't find them on the west coast. Frankly, as a kid, I hated them, but now I think they're terrific!??
