      Paws in motion for UPAWS

The annual Strut Your Mutt charity walk is this Saturday in Marquette's Lower Harbor park. The event is the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter's largest fundraiser for the year.

Participants secure donations and win prizes based on how much they raise. Last year the event brought in $25,000 for UPAWS. Organizers say this is an event the community can feel proud of.

"One of the unique things about Strut Your Mutt is that the people of the community have ownership in this because it's a grassroots effort," said Anne Brownell, Chair of the Strut Your Mutt event. "They go out, they raise the money and they raise the pledges, and then they come on down and have a big dog party and celebrate all the hard work they've done."

Pre-registration is underway, but if you miss that you can register the day of the event. The 8th annual Strut Your Mutt takes place rain or shine in Mattson Lower Harbor Park in Marquette starting at 9 a.m. this Saturday.
